Adam Zimmer, the former Minnesota Vikings coach’s son Mike Zimmer who was an NFL assistant coach for roughly 17 seasons, died on Monday, the 31st of October at the age of 38.
Corri Zimmer White who is Mike’s daughter as well as Adam’s sister went on to confirm the news on Instagram on Tuesday morning, the 1st of November.
Adam Zimmer was residing in the state of Minnesota while he was working for the Bengals. The Mendota Heights police division, later on, got a call for a welfare check roughly on Monday at 1:13 p.m. CT, stated the police chief Wayne Wegener Jr.
The cops soon reached Zimmer’s home only to find him dead inside. Chief Wegener stated that the police were not investigating this as a suspicious death.
As of now, no cause of death has officially been announced to the public. The medical examiner from Hennepin County is in the process to determine one and will make an official identification later.
Adam initially began his coaching career sometime around 2006 with the New Orleans Saints and debuted as an assistant linebackers coach. He was in a similar role during his time with the Kansas City Chiefs roughly around 2010 to 2012. He, later on, joined his father in Cincinnati and went on to become an assistant defensive backs coach around 2013, during the time of Mike Zimmer’s ultimate season over there as a defensive coordinator, before shifting with him to the Vikings.

Adam enlisted in the Vikings’ coaching faculty around the time his father was hired as head coach in 2014. He served as linebackers coach for 6 seasons and was soon promoted to co-defensive coordinator around 2020. He along with his father and the majority of the coaching personnel were fired during the 2021 season.

The Vikings’ owners released a statement stating that they were heartbroken to hear about the demise of Adam. They called him a kind, respectful man, and over his years in Minnesota, they stated it was evident that he cared tremendously for his family, players and colleagues. Their prayers are with the entire Zimmer family.
Former Vikings general manager Rick Spielman also went on to release a statement saying that his thoughts and prayers go to the Zimmer family and that Adam was a very good coach and person and would be deeply missed.
Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins also went onto social media to state that he was deeply saddened at receiving this news, and he went on to call Adam Zimmer a tremendous coach and person.
As of late, Adam Zimmer had been employed as an offensive analyst for the Bengals. The Bengals president, Mike Brown issued a statement saying that his organization had the privilege to work with the Zimmer family for 15 years and that they have the greatest regard for Mike and Adam and are incredibly saddened by the tragic news they have received. For them, the duo were more than coaches but also friends and their thoughts and prayers are with the Zimmer family.
The Saints also went on to release a statement that they had fond memories of Adam from his 4 years at the organization and that he was knowledgeable, well-liked, hardworking and enthusiastic. He quickly developed into an excellent coach and their prayers are with him and his family.

Corri Zimmer White on her Instagram account went on to speak more about her brother and the unexpected death of Vikki Zimmer in 2009.
She stated that her brother was one of her best friends, especially after her mother died, and they became close. He was a pillar of comfort and he was always there for her and he was always the first to show up to volunteer at her foundation events.
