The victim’s families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting finally got justice after 10 years.
The families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting won around $1 billion as damages from Alex Jones.
Alex Jones, a radio show host, and conspiracy theorist claimed for years that the mass shooting incident that occurred on December 14, 2012, in Sandy Hook Elementary School, in Newtown, Connecticut, United States, was a Government Hoax and that some of the people who were claimed to be killed never actually existed.
Alex, the founder of the Infowars website claimed that the government staged the massacre to take guns from Americans and the parents of the victims are crisis actors. But after creating a whole conspiracy theory in which he is best, finally got punishment for his actions.
On 12th August 2022, Wednesday the Jury the court passed the verdict in favor of the families of the victims and announced that Alex Jones is obliged to pay $1 billion as damages. The exact amount of money the families will get is not yet cleared.
In a statement made by Alex jones in August at a separate defamation trial in Texas, he confessed that the massacre was 100% real.
When the clerk announced the verdict in the courtroom, the victims’ families and lawyers were befuddled and stunned.
Alex Jones’ lies caused suffering to the victims’ families
During the trials, the families of the victims explained to the court how they have been suffered emotionally and mentally because of Alex Jones’ lies.
The families who lost their gems got abused through social media, faced harassment, and survived death threats. Many of the families also claimed that they had to change their homes repeatedly for their safety.
Mark Barden, father of 7 years old Daniel Barden who died in the massacre recalled hearing that people were abusing his son’s grave by urinating on it and threatening to dig it up.
Emilie Parker’s father, Robbie Parker who has been awarded the largest amount of $120 million, told that every day in the courtroom they stood up and told the truth, and telling the truth shouldn’t be so hard and scary.
The father of 6 years old Emilie Parker who televised his daughter’s funeral, was called “disgusting” by Alex Jones added to his statement addressing Alex’s followers that “For anyone who still listening to Alex, just ask yourselves, what has he ever given you?”
After all the trauma and harassment faced by the families, only because of the lies and theories spread by Alex Jones, has finally got justice for their loved ones who died in the mass shooting themselves.
Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre
The Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre happened on December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut, United States when Adam Lanza, a 20-year-old adult headed to the Sandy Hook Elementary School after killing her mother at their Newtown residence.
Adam shot his mother, Nancy Lanza, who was 52 years old with a .22-caliber Savage Mark II rifle earlier that day. Adam shot his mother four times in her head. Later the Investigators found Nancy Lanza’s body in pajamas, in her bed. After killing Nancy, Adam then took her mother’s car and rode towards the school where Lanza killed 26 people of whom 20 were 6 and 7 years old kids, 6 of the victims were staff members and teachers. After killing 26 victims Adam Lanza then shot himself in the head and committed suicide.
The incident was marked as the deadliest mass shooting at an elementary school in United States history and the fourth-deadliest mass shooting overall.
