During the regular season, the two biggest position concerns for the Dallas Cowboys were their wide receivers and the offensive line. If this opening game is any indication, they have plenty to worry about…and now they have to add a quarterback to that list as well Dak is expected to miss a few weeks with his hand surgery.
Dak Prescott was injured when he hit the hand of outside linebacker, Shaq Barret while throwing a pass. And now according to multiple sources, he will have a pin and plate inserted into the area to stabilize the joint.
Prescott said about the injury that he initially thought he jammed a finger and did not believe that it was serious. But when he went to the locker room for X-rays, then he come to know about the fracture.
He said after the game when he was wearing a splint on his right hand “I was told it was much cleaner than it could have been. And the coach Mike McCarthy said that It is a significant injury.

In falling to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 19-3, in front of thousands of fans, the Dallas Cowboys were unable to muster up much in the way of any offensive threat. The offensive line performed decently under the circumstances, but consistency and penalties were the issues.
For their part, the receiving crops largely struggled to create space and so Prescott, who was by no means sharp himself, only completed 14 of 29 pass attempts for 134 yards and a passer rating of 47.2.
The Cowboys now will go with Cooper Rush as their starting quarterback beginning next week against the Cincinnati Bengals. Will Grier is the team’s No.3rd quarterback and he is currently on the practice squad.
Cooper Rush won his first career start last year against the Minnesota Vikings when Prescott was out with a right calf strain. He completed Tampa Bay’s 7-of-13 passes for 64 yards after taking over for Prescott. And against the Vikings, he threw for 325 yards and two touchdowns in the 20-16 win.
Dak Prescott said that It is very disappointing, but injuries happen, can’t control it, just unfortunate, Obviously going to miss some time, not to be there for my team and that is what hurts me more than anything, especially after the start we just put out there. Wanted to be able to respond, and not having that opportunity for several weeks, yeah it is unfortunate. But I will do what I have always done anytime adversity comes, take it on head-first and give my best and I am sure I will come out of this thing better.
Dak, who is now 2-5 in season openers in his career, completed 14-of-29 passes for 134 yards, was intercepted once, and sacked twice while the Cowboys were held without a touchdown in a season opener for the first time since 2001
This thumb injury capped a strange week for Prescott, who was limited in last Thursday’s practice because of a sore ankle that he blamed on a new pair of cleats. Prescott kept insisting that he was fine and said it would not be an issue against the Buccaneers after going through full workouts Friday and Saturday.
Prescott said that this was just another bump in the road and he will keep moving forward and he will do everything that he can control to get himself back to better and help this team.
