Tulsi Gabbard, a former lawmaker and potential presidential candidate in 2020, has declared her departure from the Democratic party.
She said, “If you can no longer stomach the direction that the so-called woke Democratic Party ideologues are taking our country. I invite you to join me.”
Gabbard was the first Samoan-American and Hindu elected to Congress in 2012; the Democratic party hasn’t always agreed with her political ideas.
She started to get national attention during the 2016 election when she quit her job as vice chairman of the DNC to support Sen. Bernie Sanders for president.
Following her resignation from Congress, Gabbard frequently started appearing on Fox News as a guest host on Tucker Carlson’s primetime evening program. She also gave a keynote address at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando earlier this year.
The Tulsi Gabbard Show, a new podcast series on YouTube, was also launched at the same time as Gabbard’s announcement. The first episode is a 28-minute one titled “Why I’m Leaving the Democratic Party,” in which she discusses how she initially became a member of the party as a young adult after being “inspired by Democrats who stood up against the war in Vietnam” and others who stood up for plantation workers in Hawaii.
In addition, Gabbard charged that the party was “stoking anti-white racism,” disrespecting the police and the religious establishment and bringing the nation dangerously close to nuclear conflict.
Gabbard did not specify her next moves or whether she would consider joining the Republican Party. She has frequently voiced her opposition to the two-party system that rules American politics, leading some to believe that she would garner support as an independent or in a third party.
She joined the Army National Guard as a result of the 9/11 events. She declined a straightforward re-election bid in 2004 and travelled to Iraq with the 29th Brigade Combat Team, where she worked in a medical unit.
At the age of 31, Gabbard ran for office in the United States Congress, promising to uphold her comrades’ and sisters’ lives and sacrifices in uniform after personally experiencing the actual costs of war.
Tulsi Gabbard Announcement
Gabbard also said in an email announcement, “I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party – which is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly weakness. The Democrats of today divide us by racializing every issue, stoking anti-white racism, and actively working to undermine our God-given freedoms enshrined in our Constitution. The Democrats of today are hostile to people of faith and spirituality. They demonize the police and protect criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans. The Democrats of today believe in open borders and weaponizing the national security state to go after political opponents. Above all else, the Democrats of today are dragging us ever closer to nuclear war.”
Tulsi Gabbard vehemently criticizes US President Joe Biden. Gabbard attributed Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine to Biden’s misguided foreign policy.
The former congresswoman said, “I believe in a government that is of the people, by the people, and for the people. Unfortunately, today’s Democratic Party does not. Instead, it stands for a government of, by, and for the powerful elite,”
