Lyndon “Duke” Hanson and George Boedecker Jr. developed Crocs to manufacture and market a foam clog, whose design they licenced from Quebec City’s Foam Creations, Inc. Footwear was first created as a boating shoe. At the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show in Florida in 2001, Crocs debuted their first product, the Beach, and the 200 pairs they had made were all sold out. Since then, Crocs has sold 300 million pairs of footwear. Crocs relocated its corporate offices from Niwot, Colorado to Broomfield in June 2020.
Crocs acquired Foam Creations and its manufacturing facilities in June 2004 to gain exclusive rights to the special foam resin known as Croslite. Closed-cell resin called Croslite is referred to by outside sources as injection-moulded EVA foam. Many podiatrists claim that the foam conforms to a wearer’s feet and provides certain medical benefits. In addition to three design patents that cover various aesthetic features, Crocs is the holder of a patent application titled “breathable work shoes and methods for making such”

Crocs’ chief marketing officer, Heidi Cooley, said in a statement that “Croctober is one of our most favourite times of the year” since it allows the company to thank its many loyal customers who have backed it from the start. According to a recent Morning Consult survey, which indicated that for adults between the ages of 18 and 25, Crocs is a favourite brand among Gen Z.
The shoe company Crocs debuted in 2002, and the coronavirus outbreak gave it a boost. In 2021, the business announced a record annual revenue of $2.3 billion, an increase of 67% over the previous year. By acquiring the golf shoe producer Bite Footwear in 2008 and releasing the Ace, a pair of golf shoes with Croc-inspired styling, the business entered the golf shoe industry.
The brand introduced “A Free Pair for Healthcare” in 2020, offering healthcare professionals a free pair of their shoes in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Additionally, Crocs delivered 100,000 pairs of shoes to hospitals for staff distribution.
Celebrities like Luke Combs and Justin Bieber have worked together to create unique Crocs. Additionally, Crocs collaborated with food manufacturers to create footwear that was inspired by Hidden Valley Ranch dressing, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and breakfast cereal.
Twenty years ago, Crocs were introduced to the market and quickly gained notoriety as a “love ’em or hate ’em” type of shoe.
Thanks to Gen Zers, who consider Crocs to be their favourite brand, foam clogs have seen a rise in popularity in recent years.
