The fourth episode of House of the Dragon aired on 11th September. In the episode “King of the Narrow Sea” Milly Alcock who is playing Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen has been seen sharing an Incest scene with Matt Smith who is portraying the role of Daemon Targaryen, Rhaenyra’s Uncle.
While talking about her making-out scene with Matt Smith in an Interview, Milly Alcock said that she and Matt were just kind of mates and which is why it became comfortable for them to shoot the scenes.
Milly Alcock talked about her character Rhaenyra and she also mentioned that Rhaenyra is now at that age where she can’t make distinctions between lust, romantic love, and platonic love. Milly added that Rhaenyra hasn’t lived that long enough or explored enough and gone through those experiences.
Milly Alcock said that Rhaenyra knows that she has feelings for her Uncle Daemon, but she wasn’t sure how to navigate those feelings.
Shooting the Scene
Milly Alcock said in the interview that she and Matt Smith had an intimacy coordinator, they worked with her during the rehearsal process and blocked it out for months. Alcock continued that their director Clare Kilner made sure that they wouldn’t see any of the brothel stuff till the time they were shooting. So, the scene where Daemon was walking along with Rhaenyra in the brothel and guiding her to the room with all the other people, was the first time Alcock saw this stuff. Milly Alcock said that it was quite shocking for her and it was weird and silly.
It wasn’t a shock for the fans though. As fans, we all know that an incest relationship is not a new thing in GOT universe. These kinds of relations have been seen in Game of Thrones and from the first episode of House of the Dragons, it was pretty clear that there was some kind of chemistry between them. For many people, it was unexpected, though people knew that this was coming still it was mildly scandalized.
